ABOUT US

Our Story

Our farm rests along an ancient buffalo trace once hunted by the Shawnee, with creeks that flow into the Kentucky River just a few miles away in Frankfort. This land was originally part of a 1,000-acre grant settled in 1790 by Anthony Lindsay, who established the frontier outpost known which later established Stamping Ground.

In 1941, our grandparents, Maggie and Vertner DeMoss, purchased the farm and made it their home. From the 1940s through the 1970s, the farm served as the family homestead while supporting tobacco crops and cattle. As the tobacco industry changed, the second generation transitioned the operation to focus solely on raising cattle.

Third Generation

Today, the third generation continues that legacy. Brian (the middle son) and his wife Kimberly built a new home on the farm, helping support Aunt Clara while beginning their own return to farm life. Their daughter now represents the fourth generation to live and work on this land.

Rooted in history and family tradition, our commitment remains the same: caring for the land, honoring those who came before us, and building something meaningful for the generations to come.
